This week I’ve been sorting out the order in which the illustrations will appear in the coloring book! To do that, I put them all out on the floor to get a feel for how they all fit together:
In the end, the order I chose is as follows:
And for those of you who remember this illustration…:
…and noticed it isn’t in the flip-through - I actually ended up moving it to an upcoming summer-themed coloring book, swapping it for this crane page:
Watching the cranes dance at Lake Hornborga is a big deal in spring here in Sweden, as thousands of cranes gather at the lake every March-April and have done so for probably thousands of years. I haven’t been yet, but I absolutely love cranes (even though the sound they make is pretty scary haha), so I really wanted to include them in a page!
If you want to know more about the cranes at Hornborga, check out this site: https://www.hornborga.com/nature/cranes/
Finally, I started making a color swatch page, where the owner of the coloring book can try out their colors:
It felt pretty fitting drawing a lot of eggs, seeing as it was Easter week and all!
Disaster has struck! My Limequat is losing all its leaves, probably because it’s not getting enough sun in the window, but it’s still too cold to let it outside. Hoping for warmer days soon!
Also, remember the Strawberry Swirl pansy I was talking about before? The only one out of like 20+ seeds to sprout after over a month?
…turns out it’s NOT a pansy at all, but a salad!! I have NO idea how that got in there, or how it managed to sprout only after 30+ days… Needless to say, I’m sort of giving up on flowers this year. Maybe I should just stick to vegetables and herbs 😆
Finally, a Swedish easter greeting from our cat Serafina:
Living in tune with the seasons is part of our nature—it brings us joy and offers comfort during challenging times. Each week, I’ll share a simple suggestion to help you embrace seasonal living, no matter where you are.
This time of year, lots of people gather to watch migrating birds at lakes and fields. Why not visit your nearest birdwatching site and see how many different kinds of birds you can spot?
…or, alternatively:
Share your funniest or most surprising gardening moment (like mistaking a salad for a pansy). I’d certainly love to hear it 😂
While flipping through the prototype of the finished coloring book, I found some things I really want to fix before I’m ready to send it off to the printer. In other words, next week is fixing week!
